Thompson's probably played his last game as a Duck, but he's a third-line wing this season? That dude is unbelievable! |

I caught that too, pretty sure he meant to put Ritchie.
Cogliano can play the middle if needed, I think Vermette would more likely play out like the Heatly situation. Hudler would be a good fit on the wing, he scores goals and brings Cup/Playoff experience. |

I'm surprised he is still out there... likely holding out for too much $$ or term.
Gonna bite him in the ass when he has to settle for a pto. |

Could be a ok signing - however and I'm not clear on this, if spending money on him detracts from money being allocated to 47 or 67 ... forget it -
Anyway I think Hudler is the more valuable piece even if he were to be more expensive - AV is a luxury at this point as the center depth is OK with Cogs being able to slide in and Wags an option also - wing scoring is more important IMO at this time and Hudler could provide that - |

OK. I'll respond to this comment. Who exactly is signing elsewhere? The only 2 players unsigned are Rakell and Lindholm. Murray said they would be signed some time in August OR September. They're RFA, not UFA. Are you suggesting they're going to remain unsigned, sit out a year, then become UFA next year? OK. Whatever.
Or. Do you think they're subject to an offer sheet? Not happening.
Worry about your own team.

Right now the forward situation is:
LW - Getzlaf - Perry
Cogliano - Kesler - Silfverberg
Raymond - Rakell - Garbutt
Ritchie - Wagner - Boll
Nate Thompson's on IR.
Oh the top line LW and the Ducks. Wouldn't it be cool if I penciled in a prospect in the slot? I chuckle reading the boards. I think of Benjen Stark's last talk with Jon, " A man gets what he's earned when he earns it." Ritchie didn't play like a first liner. He couldn't finish. For whatever reason. All I'm doing is not participating in fantasy land forum hoopla.
As we've all noticed a new coach is behind the bench. Will he ride Kesler as much defensively? Will we see him ask more from 167ft Perry? (I'm so funny today). Anyways, there is an open winger slot heading into training camp. Whether a prospect steps up or BM pulls the trigger on the logjam that is the Ducks blueline. If there was ever a persona for a team where a young winger could make the jump it'd be now (strong defense and center depth).
Nevertheless, there are options and opportunity. Hopefully BM will play his cards right. |

MTL GM said Subban wasn't getting traded. What's your point?
You fans and believing too much into what GMs say. Lol
For the record I do think they will be signed. |
|
|

I would pass on Vermette. Too many other players out there can bring you more. Frankly, aside from faceoffs he is pretty much useless. I like the idea of spelling Kesler from so many defensive zone faceoffs, but Vermette is not the guy to do it.
Anaheim should be picking up a couple of really good forwards when they are forced to trade Lumpy sometime in the next few weeks, so I wouldn't worry Ducks fans. You will get your forwards.

PS, Mason Raymond is trash. If you are looking for a guy to take a pass and then skate himself immediately into the corner and out of the play....you have the right guy.

There's zero similarity between saying a player isn't getting traded, and saying RFA's will be signed. Now, if Murray said Fowler wasn't getting traded, you'd have made a point.
You shouldn't make these posts (stating Duck fans should worry about certain players signing with someone else). You sound ill informed (and yes, I was being polite).

To believe anything a GM says to the media is laughable. Until it's done don't get your hopes up. Happens a lot in sports. If it gets done great. If it doesn't I wouldn't be surprised. My main point was, there's two guys you need to sign and with your limited team cap signing Vermett just makes no sense. But go ahead, sign the guy... Not sure why you get so agitated over a comment |

Hardly agitated at all. Just amused at your comments, that's all. They're laughable. You can reply and have the last word. No worries.

Other than face offs, Vermette is useless? He had 17 goals last year and the year before he held the Stanley cup over his head! On a cheap one year deal, what's the risk? One of the best face offs guys in the NHL. Veteran leadership and a great locker room guy. Useless? |
|
|
|
I think Vermette would be a great fit, if contract is no more than 2 mil for 2 years but I would play him as a LW as opposed to a C unless injuries force him to cover at C. He can still take draws. Utilize him the same way SJ does playing Pavelski; a natural C, at RW with Thornton or Marleau; a natural C, at LW with Couture. He can still take a ton of draws even though they primarily deployed as a LW.
Keep Rackell at C.
